BronyShow - Bronyville Episode 001 - My Little Podcast – Friendship is AWESOME

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned that starting out new endeavors with your friends is both fun and challenging. Every new experience is a chance to grow and discover yourself. And this is especially true when you have friends who are willing to help out even if it may be a little right around the edges.

I would like to thank Chef Sandy, Doral, and Keb for jumping into the show this week. And the show is a learning process – we had a while 23 episodes to cover in one show. Give us some time, fellow bronies.

Logo belongs to the internet and the awesome people in it.

Intro music is The Friends Forever Mix by Chain Algorithm (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V59MgGRHvo)

Outtro music is Fluttershy’s Lullaby by BandPuffs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa6_ZMBFUpQ)

Sleep well, bronies.

For the first time in the history of the book club, we have a guest host with us this week. Jay1743, as he goes by on FA, joined us in the studio – on the futon in my eight foot by eight foot room on the outskirts of DC – to discuss Alflor’s disturbing sci-fi fic “Stasis.” The themes of loneliness and isolation in the story were just too great, we had to invite a friend to keep us company.
We hope you enjoy the podcast!

We hope you enjoy the discussion!

The Bad Dog Book Club - Audiobook 006 - Alex Vance reads “Stasis” by Alflor Aalto

A journey into the unknown naturally raises questions, highlights doubts, stirs concerns, whatever. It’s not always the fear of what’s to be found on the other side that stresses you, but on what’s in between. Travel has long been a symbol of escape and freedom, but there’s something truly paralyzing about being in transit- away from one center, toward another, where provisions are rationed and shelters scarce. This story finds that particular horror in the trip from a home planet, to some distant unknown, that is interrupted so that our main character finds himself in a truly horrifying state of lifeless animation.

You may have already ready the text on our blog, but for our commuters out the here’s the audiobook version. Enjoy!

The Bad Dog Book Club - Meeting 005 - “On the Bright Beach” by Kandrel

As we continue further through the various meta-layers of fantasy involved with idealized stories about fake things, usually acted out in mediums that alter reality in their own ways, we get to the Bright Beach. It’s easy to say that the Bright Beach represents something as basely sci-fi as Second Life. But the way the narrator separates the actions of the fantasy characters from the disembodied entities that control them gives the story that same strange sense of distance.

We hope you enjoy the discussion!

The Bad Dog Book Club - Audiobook 005 - Alex Vance reads “On the Bright Beach” by Kandrel

It’s when the darkness seems most severe that the storm clouds start to part and the sun starts to glimmer over the landscape. It’s a scene not uncommon to literature, one that may have provided the opening image for thousands of unpublished works by now. This resonates with people because nobody goes through life without experiencing a winter to thaw out of- it may be a figurative winter, a season in a lifetime, a trial of mood that is met and conquered. Or it might be literal, evincing the real struggle against cold, one that comes on as firm and definite a schedule as the neat grid of any calender would suggest. But you don’t face these winters without learning to recognize the coming of a fairer season.

On the Bright Beach will be that crisp view on the horizon, if you’ve been following our readings. Each story seemed a little more severe than the last. But if thousands of words of the pulpiest story we’ve featured yet doesn’t cheer you up- go outside and get a little sun.

The Bad Dog Book Club - Meeting 004 - “One Week” by Whyte Yoté

Some of the best stories are simulations of the more sinful desires, and BDSM certainly falls into this category. While Whyte Yote offers up a story that is absent of the bondage or sado-masochistic aspects, he creates a story with a starkly defined dom/sub binary- and does it with a muted, even disaffected touch that enables vivid imagery. Issues of class and race (as far as they can be somehow projected upon furry animal pseudo fantasy-people, or whatever) give the story a special bite, one that can often cause conflict between writer and reader.

And for those who were looking forward to a little bondage: If I don’t learn to stop futzing with my hoodie zipper during recording session, you can presume in future recording sessions that my hands are cuffed behind my back.

The Bad Dog Book Club - Audiobook 004 - Andrew Rabbitt reads “One Week” by Whyte Yoté

There’s a certain thrill in the development and polarization of power roles. Yeah, you don’t want to let Foucault infect everything you think, but when one guy’s seated in a throne and another’s on his knees, it makes things easy to understand. Especially when you start to dress that dynamic in intriguing imagery- a torn suit, dark hardwood floors, looks that are centered in the whiskers rather than on his lips- and it’s no surprise why so many people get a special twitch in their nerves from a good dom/sub story.

Whyte Yote breaks open a treasure trove of glittering images in his story “One Week,” which you may have already read.

But we don’t want to leave the commuters out, either- so here is an audiobook version, as read by the one and only Andrew Rabbitt. Gas up the crude generator you use to recharge your Zune in a dystopian future, world’s last remaining furry!

The Bad Dog Book Club - Meeting 003 - “Thou Shalt Not Kill” by FuzzWolf

Maybe it’s about time Skip and I come clean about something-

You see, we’re- we’re robots. We were programmed by Alex Vance to run the book club arm of his furry publishing empire. And while we hope you won’t hold our lack of souls against us, it does explain the minor kink in our programming that causes us to identify so well with characters such as Unit JVCS3163- who you possibly know by his slave name- who skirt the line between real and unreal. Especially since that can be a rather potent source of some pretty steamy pulp. Which, as emotionless droids, Skip and I see as intriguing new territory.

If you haven’t had a chance to read the story yet, here are the text and the audiobook, including a free eBook copy you can take with you wherever you go.

The Bad Dog Book Club - Audiobook 003 - Alex Vance reads “Thou Shalt Not Kill” by FuzzWolf

Perfection is the unattainable ideal people aspire to- that is, if they have any ambition at all. When it comes to keeping up with the Joneses, you have to have the fastest car, the largest TV, and the most obedient slave. Perfection, Inc. can help you with the last one, at the very least. In this erotic, 18+ tale by the inimitable FuzzWolf, “Thou Shalt Not Kill” (borrowed with the permission of Sofawolf Press, which first published the story in their anthology X).

When Richard’s new toy arrives on his door stop it passes all his wildest expectations. The jaguar is built to every specification, he answers immediately to every command, and approaches every task with a relish. But perfection can’t last long, as Richard soon finds out.

(Though he doesn’t discover that until he’s had quite a few opportunities to break the new boy in)

Now, for those of those you are textually challenged – or commuters, you lucky job-having bastards – we have the audiobook available. Be sure to tune in next week when Skip and I discuss the story!

It’s a pleasure to see you! We’re so glad to see we didn’t scare you away after the first episode. No- no, the stain definitely came out. Really, it- it only took a little club soda. But a little collateral damage is to be expected, I suppose, when you host these sorts of things. Have you read this week’s story, Double Blind, by Teiran? It’s a pretty keen thriller, those high-tech gizmos always fascinate me.

You might have heard the story as read by the wonderful Alex Vance, as well!

And don’t forget to read our next story by the inimitable Fuzzwolf: Thous Shalt Not Kill, already available on our blog.

The Bad Dog Book Club - Audiobook 002 - Alex Vance reads “Double Blind” by Teiran

Everybody has a weakness for a good thriller. The characters can be so dynamic and lively because they need to be, to be able to kick down doors and go in guns blazing to get results- or whatever. Point is, heroes certainly aren’t slouches. And this week’s story, Double Blind by Teiran, which was originally published in Roar 2, has a squad of misfits who maneuver their ways through a technotopic world of corporate espionage and body modification. Each member of the group must adapt to the technological environment in their own way – even a ferret who, born with mystical abilities, must keep all the wires on the outside.

“The body was your connection to the magic,” the narrator explains of the ferret, whose natural abilities fill in the gaps where technology doesn’t solve the problem. It’s hard not to keep this message in mind when considering the team’s muscle, a horse who has gone through the assembly line more often than a Hollywood starlet under the knife, and works only to afford to continually upgrade his body. In a world where people are already showing off the Verizon logo in the lefthand corner of their shitty trendy phone, it’s easy to see a direct path between ourselves and a future not-so-alternate universe.

You may have already read the story when we posted it on the blog, alongside an ebook you can take with you. If you have, great! We’d love to get your comments on the story – you can post them here, or you can e-mail me at toonces@drivingcat.org. You can even tweet at us. And if you bring up some good points, we probably won’t be able to resist reading them at the next meeting.

But if you were waiting for the audiobook – to listen to it in the car, maybe, like your favorite driving cat – we have the wonderful Alex Vance reading for you below. This is the second time Alex Vance has contributed his talents to the book club – though generally he acts as a fixer, wooing every i with a dot, and intimidating the ts into crossing themselves.

The Bad Dog Book Club - Meeting 001 - “Sanguine and Clockwork” by K. M. Hirosaki

Thank you so much for stopping by! Not everyone’s arrived, yet- but I’ve still yet to get all the cheeses onto all the crackers, and- you brought a bottle of wine with you, right? Good- good. This is going to be fun, I think. I’ve always wanted to start a book club. I’m glad I finally found Skip and had someone organized enough to actually pull the thing off!

We wanted to start the show off on the right foot, so Skip and I dug into the Bad Dog Books archive and pulled out this entry from FANG 3 by K.M. Hirosaki, “Sanguine and Clockwork.” Written to fit the anthology’s theme of erotic fantasy, the story commits to a fantastic process of developing the relationship of two characters – Florian, a wizard, and Rentell, a Lord – to tell the story of a third character – Vico, an artificial fox crafted through sorcery and responding only and immediately to direct commands.

You can read the story right here on the Book Club website, where you’ll also find links to the story on FurAffinity and SoFurry so you can share your thoughts with the author directly.

For all the people who can’t read while driving like I can (though that might explain why I’m always driving over all those cliffs) we also have an audio book read by our very own Alex Vance.

Next episode, we’ll be discussing Double Blind by Teiran from ROAR Volume 2. You can read it here and leave comments – we might just discuss your thoughts or questions on air in our next meeting.

Thanks again for coming to this week’s book club!

This week’s story asks its readers to consider the consciousness of an autonomous body.

Florian, the sorcerer at the heart of the story, is a seemingly more insecure Dr. Frankenstein.

And Vico, his mindless, obedient laboratory servant warrants the same sympathy Frankenstein’s monster demanded.

Our very own Alex Vance read this story for us this week, so that those of you with bad eyes or morning commutes or whatever can make sure to get in on the book club.

We hope you enjoy the story as much as you enjoy Alex’s smooth European accent!

Fuzzy Logic Pod Cast - Episode 2 - March Madness!

It’s time for our second episode! After one week off in which we didn’t have enough e-mails to put together a proper episode (note: we don’t record unless we have at least 3 e-mails), we’re back and looking like we’re picking up steam!

This time around, we read precisely three mails – although we’ll totally read more if we get them! – including a difficult long-distance relationship, someone wanting help with college, and a monolithic Super-Sized e-mail about employment. We also discuss the issue at FWA with the shock-jocks who pretended they knew how to go undercover. (PROTIP: G4 did this right. The radio station did not.)

This one is almost exactly one hour long, but we can certainly fit more than just three e-mails into one hour! Whatever you may need help with, or even issues you just want discussed, drop us a line!

Also, tell your friends about us!

Hello there, everyone! You’ve found Fuzzy Logic, the furry-themed sex and relationship podcast created so that you, the listeners, can get real answers to real problems. Feel free to ask us anything, and we’ll do the best we can for you!

Our first offering is Episode 0, entitled “Do What Now”. In this episode, we introduce the podcast – Kyo Foxtrot, Halfwit Genius, and Istanbul – and set forth a little groundwork. This is Episode 0 because it’s likely to be the only episode wherein no e-mails are read; this is something of a test run, and a way for us to get our faces out there and let people know that yes, Fuzzy Logic is actually a thing. Feel free to drop us an e-mail at fuzzy.logic.podcast@gmail.com if you want some advice and to have your e-mail read on the air – we hope to hear from you soon!

Click on the link at the bottom of this post to download, and watch for the official launch of Fuzzy Logic in early March!

KnotCast - Episode 131 - Disco Infurno

This is our live show from Furry Fiesta 2011- Disco Infurno. We had a pretty packed room for this show and it went really well. Only minor technical glitch was that the recorders battery died for about 2 minutes near the front of the recording.. eating a really funny and embarrassing story of Rekkie's. Oh well, can't do a live show without a mishap or two it seems. Enjoy!

Don't forget our sponsor Adam and Eve, every dong you buy helps the show!
Use our coupon code 'knot' to get a great deal.
www.adameve.com
